THE DIASPORA PA’LANTE COLLECTIVE IS A MASS, SOCIALIST ORGANIZATION OF BORICUAS AND ALLIES FROM ACROSS THE UNITED STATES AND PUERTO RICO WHO ARE COMMITTED TO FIGHTING FOR THE COMPLETE LIBERATION OF OUR NATION BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. WE ARE ACTIVELY ANTI-IMPERIALIST, ANTI-RACIST, ANTI-CAPITALIST, AND ANTI-PATRIARCHAL, AND INTERNATIONALIST.
WE UNDERSTAND THAT AS A DIASPORA WITHIN THE US IMPERIAL CORE, WE MUST EDUCATE, AGITATE, AND ORGANIZE OUR PEOPLE FROM ALL SECTORS OF LIFE TO FIGHT FOR A WORKING CLASS REVOLUTION THAT WILL ULTIMATELY BENEFIT OUR PEOPLE IN THE ARCHIPELAGO. WE ORGANIZE BRIGADES TO CONTRIBUTE MATERIALLY TO OUR COUNTRY WHILE CREATING AND STRENGTHENING RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN OUR PEOPLE IN THE DIASPORA AND IN THE ARCHIPELAGO.
-Diaspora Palante
The Puerto Rican diaspora continues to organize for the right to self determination on the island and within the diaspora within the mainland United States. I am choosing to focus on one organization, Diaspora Palante, due to high levels of activism within major US cities, including DC, and their continuities with many of the theoretical pillars of the Young Lords Party that have been discussed in this archive thus far. There are several ways that Diaspora Palante carries the radical traditions of the YLP in their anticolonial and anti-imperial organizing work, including the emphasis on art for the masses, the ties between Puerto Rican decolonization and anti-imperialist movements throughout Latin America and the globe, as well as the emphasis on creating a decolonial history and national culture. Diaspora Palante continues the YLP tradition of using education, material propaganda, community-centered events and actions to continue diasporic engagement in the broader Puerto Rican and anti-imperial struggle.
